What Exactly Is Balance?

Balance is a skill that is part physical and part mental. Your core muscles are involved, as are your legs, head, and neck. Equilibrium is controlled by your brain and inner ears, which is why some stroke sufferers have difficulty balancing.

But for most of us, balance is a skill that is just like any other skill … the more you use it, the better your ability becomes. Remember when you were a child, constantly running, jumping, climbing, and so on? You may have even been an expert at cartwheels and handstands! In part, you were able to effortlessly perform all of those skills simply because they were a part of your normal every day routine.
